After arriving in Darwin from Chicago to meet up with her family in 1983: Dana worked seven as years as a housemaid at the Atrium Hotel along with a host of other jobs.
Then she got put one the pension after meeting Marinus Jan Hubrechsen (pronounced Yan) in 1998 the man of her life for the next twenty six years. Then one day a week as an office worker for Territory Business Centre for twenty years; as a “Friday girl”. All this while working on her art. “I do it because every work is a mystery and an adventure; you never know how it’s going to turn out.” Dana stated drawing after taking art classes at the Hub and Casurina Secondary College. “Abstract just comes natural, it comes from my subconscious.”
