I put an add in at Centrelink; clown seeks friends sort of thing. A few months later I am at a classical music recital where I am doing fire dancing for when this hot Latino artist friend walks up to me and says she is interested in the add I have posted. She is beautiful and she has a degree in fine arts; perfect face painter. I score us a grant, get her an instruction book and some paints and we do the Burrum Heads Australia Day raft race together. She turns down my offer for a drink at the end of the show, and we went our separate ways. Then she called me up wanting me to goto the markets with her. Cool a hot Latino, would make an excellent Cleopatra, artist girlfriend who wants me to clown around with her. Yes – too right! I’ll be in for some of that! She is super hot: tall, thin, fine angular facial features, beautiful brown eyes and long wavy dark hair. Any red blooded hetro male would see a flaming hot latino. Funny thing is girls can’t see it; “There’s nothing special about Tanita.” “You have to be kidding me there’s nothing special about Tanita!” Thing is Tanita is a girl and as result of which she can’t see how beautiful she is, not a clue. Try going out with her on a Friday of Saturday night; “Yes – she’s with me.” “Yes – she’s with me.” “Yes – she’s with me.” “OK – now I’m starting to see why this is a problem!” If you don’t like it don’t go ou to those places on a Friday or Saturday night. I don’t, I worked that out a long time ago. She makes it clear we are not in a romantic relationship, it is strictly business. She likes big strong men, I’m kind of skinny. But hope springs eternal; she’s just playing hard to get. No – give up, she’s leading you up the garden path. Then she calls me up and asks me to do a market or something with. No money in it; just a good time clowning around together. Any one watching would say that’s a nice young couple. Eventually she really spat the dummy and we went our separate ways. I swear those were dates we were going on.
The roles were reversed years later, she was a single mum and dropping hints I could be good to have around. I had had some time to think about it. She is hot headed, as Latios tend to be, and stupid. I’m smart and mild mannered. She would end up going off at me I would withdraw into my shell making her all the more determined to get a big reaction. If I react smart that is likely to piss her off more too. It just couldn’t work out between us. But it was amusing to see her frustration at my lack of interest in her advances after the time spent clowning around together.
