In the early days of the Church christians were being martyred. Christians would declare special feasting days in the name of there fellow believers. Before too long there were too many special days to cope with. So they decided to settle on one. The German pagans had a day of the dead at the end of October. So a three day event was declaimed. It starts at sunset on October 31 with All Hallows Eve then is All Hallows Day then is All Saints Day ending at sunset. Hallowed means holly, this is a time for the remember the holly who have passed on to Eternity. All over the world where Halloween is observed there are stories about contacting the dead in good and bad ways. The South Americans bought scary costumes into it. Which the North Americans use to spectacular effect.
We are here to remember the dead. Few of us deal much with death these days. When you see it happening it a frighting thing to behold. Many need to seek therapy after experiencing it. Tonight we are as Christians going to face death and laugh. Because death was defeated in Calvary.
We are a little concerned with there being some negative energy getting around. There are people out there fleeting with dangerous spirits and practices. I have met people who have acquired previous spiritual injuries from playing with this like: Weegy Boards, Tarot cards and candle rituals. Misgevrious spirits are are at play over this time. So we have The God Squad prayer warriors out and about pouring out The Holly Spirit. We have all sorts of rides and carnival fun stuff to spend your money on. We have clowns wandering around and an action packed line up of community acts and church worship teams.
