There is wisdom behind the mask of folly

Rarely have we seen a person fail.

I have been working The Steps since October 2003 – twenty years now. I came in ignorant, confused and in denial of the realities of my life. Today I am being paid to bring healing and comfort to others who battle it. The Steps have worked wonders in my life. The promises are alive and well in my life. But try as I might I just can’t get long term sobriety. And in the twenty years I have been a part of this spiritual program; I have found AA can be a great place to meet drinking buddies. Much of my Step work has been done over and couple of coldies. Rarely have we seen a person fail. Does anyone ever stop to think how true this statement may be? Google it and you will get five percent; this program gets five percent of the people who try it sober. It is time to stop praising the program and talking about what has gone wrong. AA is broken; it’s not working the way it’s meant to. It certainly isn’t working the way it claims too. AA is enjoying a reputation it just isn’t living up to. It is time we had this conversation.
