The trees talk to each other.
Beneath the forest floor is an intricate web of roots and fungal networks that weave together a complex communication system that carries electrochemical signals like the nervous system of animals. The Wood Wide Web; it carries chains of electrochemical messages through a mycorrhizal network across vast distances, enabling trees to share information and resources. Through this woody network, trees can detect changes in their environment, such as hearing the sound of water running through underground pipes, and directing their roots toward the source of running water.
But the communication isn’t just about food and water; subtle relationships form. Mother Trees – older, larger trees within a forest – demonstrates a remarkable level of care and nurturing. These Mother Trees recognise their own offspring and favour them when distributing nutrients through the symbiotic network. This nurturing behaviour suggests a level of familial recognition and support that challenges our traditional understanding of plant life.
The relationships between trees can also be seen in their interactions with one another. Some trees, over time, develop a kind of friendship, where they grow in ways that do not block each other’s access to sunlight. This cooperation contrasts with the more competitive behaviour seen in other trees, highlighting the complexity of interactions within the forest community.
The forest is not just a collection of individual organisms; it is a symbiotic network of consciousness: trees, grass, mushrooms, and even ants all play a part. Ants, in particular, are highly attuned to this network, responding to changes in their environment and the symbiotic network. They are a part of the forest’s collective consciousness contributing to the flow of information within the forest’s neural network.
The ground beneath our feet is alive with activity; a crowded room filled with chatter about food, water, weather, threats, family, and friends. The forest is a living, breathing entity with a conscious awareness of its environment.
Life on Earth is a vast interdependent network where every element is connected; often in ways that are beyond our understanding. The Gia entity is a living conscious thing that is evolving to a new level of consciousness with a new medium of machines who’s structure reflects the tried and tested patterns of nature.
